MADISON SCALERA

Fiction: Commercial, Erotica, General, Historical, LGBTQ, Literary, Romance, Women’s Fiction
Non-Fiction: Memoir, Travel
Favorite sub-genres: Upmarket Fiction, coming of age, gothic romance, metafiction

Madison is generally open to any upmarket fiction, genre bending titles that don't necessarily fit into one category. I look for stories with romanticized worlds and literary merit, even if it is commercial fiction.

As a hopeless romantic, I am particularly interested in romance stories, whether that’s romantic fiction or a cheesy romcom. I am a sucker for byronic heroes, anti-heroes, and really any complex characters that I can guiltily love and defend against my friends and family. These characters could come from romantic suspense, psychological romance, or books where those relationship dynamics play out but don’t necessarily finish with a happy ending. I’m also on the hunt for coming-of-age stories, experimental fiction, and a little magical realism—stories like Jenni Fagan's Luckenbooth that are both fantastical yet grounded in the real world.

Topics Covered: Commercial Fiction, HISTORICAL FICTION, LITERARY FICTION, MEMOIR, NONFICTION, ROMANCE, UPMARKET FICTION, WOMEN'S FICTION,
