Over the past thirty years, I have been traditionally published by four imprints, written two newspaper columns which each ran more than ten years, directed a renowned writing workshop (Antioch Writers' Workshop) for ten years, and now I write for Writer's Digest in addition to writing novels. Has a lot changed? Yes. And, no. In many ways, perhaps the most essential ways, the characteristics required remain the same for writers who wish to reach readers with their work. Part pep talk and part publishing practicalities, this session focuses on tips and techniques to find the grit, community, motivation, and determination to succeed now—and far into the future.
