Taking Control of Your Author Career with Indie Publishing

Have you finished your first book but are feeling overwhelmed by what it will take to get it into the hands of readers?

If you don’t know where to start, you can spin your wheels and make critical mistakes that make your author journey harder than it needs to be. But if you follow the right steps, you can take control of your publishing journey—and make more money—by taking the indie route.

About the instructors

Michael La Ronn is the author of over 60 science fiction & fantasy novels and self-help books for writers. His books include The Chicago Rat Shifter series, The Last Dragon Lord series, and the Android X series, to name just a few. His writing is about heroes rising up against incredible odds to be the best possible versions of themselves.

Michael devoted himself to the writing life in 2012 after a near-death experience with a deadly illness. Realizing that life was too short to die without pursuing his passions, he dedicated himself to being an industry-savvy author, marketer, and entrepreneur.

When he’s not writing novels, Michael runs the popular YouTube channel, Author Level Up, where he publishes weekly advice videos for writers. Author Level Up has over 30,000 subscribers and nearly 1 million lifetime views. He also hosts a podcast called The Writer’s Journey, where he talks about his life as a writer and new and interesting ideas about the writing life.

Matty Dalrymple podcasts, writes, and speaks on the writing craft and the publishing voyage as The Indy Author. She is the host of "The Indy Author Podcast" and the author of The Indy Author's Guide to Podcasting for Authors. She is also the co-author, along with Mark Leslie Lefebvre, of Taking the Short Tack: Creating Income and Connecting With Readers Using Short Fiction. Matty is a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors. Matty is also the author of the Lizzy Ballard Thrillers, beginning with Rock Paper Scissors; the Ann Kinnear Suspense Novels, beginning with The Sense of Death; and the Ann Kinnear Suspense Shorts, including Close These Eyes. Matty is a member of Sisters in Crime and International Thriller Writers.
